Marina Village is an ideal hotel for families and those looking for relaxing holidays in a natural place. It is situated in the heart of the eastern coast of Crete, in the olive grove of Palaikastro, 2km far from the village (or 900m on foot) and 800m from the local sandy beaches of Hiona and Kouremenos.

It is built in a bungalow style and consists of five buildings, surrounded by garden. Breakfast is served in buffet and there is a cafeteria/ snack bar for the service of our clients. There is a swimming pool and a swimming pool for children, as well a tennis court.

At 300m from the hotel is the settlement Agathias, where some good family run taverns are, while three traditional fish taverns are on 800m at Hiona Beach.

Hiona Bay of the three sandy beaches, the crystal-clean water and the untouched landscape is the place where the Minoan town Dikta used to prosper. The town was dedicated to the birth of Zeus and today is one of the most important archaeological sites of Crete.

Northern of the hill Kastri, that divides the coastline of Palaikastro, is the long sandy beach of Kouremenos, a well known destination for windsurfers. At Kouremenos there are two windsurfing schools and the fishing harbor of Palaikastro at the end of it.

Hotel Marina Village is built in an ideal spot for visiting all the sightseeing of the area.

Palaikastro is a beautiful village of approximately 1.200 inhabitants at the eastern end of Crete. There are restaurants and cafeterias, bank, pharmacy store and mini markets. The heart of the village beats at the main square of the church, where several cultural events are taking place in the summer months, as the festivals of Pentecost and of the 15th of August. Visit the famous palm forest Vai, Erimoupolis of the three sandy beaches by the ruins of the ancient town Itanos, Toplou Monastery that its history goes back in the byzantine time. Walk in the gorge of Zakros down to Kato Zakros Beach and the ruins of the Minoan Palace, enjoy swimming at the sandy beaches of Xerokambos at the southeastern end of Crete.

A special excursion is to the plateau with the old Cretan villages above Palaikastro and Zakros. Follow the curved road up to Karydi and Sitanos, visit the Venetian villages of Voila and Etia, the archaeological site of the ancient town Praisos.

The amphitheatric town of Sitia abstains 15km from Palaikastro and is the capital of the Municipality and ever since a cultural center of Crete. Visit the archaeological museum preferably at the day that the open bazaar takes place. Walk in the commercial center by the port with the taverns and the cafeterias, up to the narrow streets to Kazarma Fortress, the spot with the best view of the town. Sitia is connected by ferry boat to Piraeus and by airplane to domestic and international airports.

Eastern Crete, mostly because of the geographic isolation from the center of the island, has remained till today an authentic place. Living tradition, deep history, paradise nature and friendly people are characterizing it. We will be very glad to welcome you!
